Ludwig van Toronto has learned that Jean‑Yves Thibaudet has regretfully cancelled his upcoming performance of Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra this Wednesday and Thursday.

No reason was given other than “unforeseen circumstances.”

Graciously stepping in on short notice is Canadian pianist Jon Kimura Parker, who will join Peter Oundjian in a program which also includes Brahms Symphony 1, and Bernstein’s Fancy Free.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with Jon Kimura Parker,” comments Peter Oundjian. “We go back a long way. We sat next to each other at graduation at Juilliard — having never met, despite both being Canadian. I graduated 10 seconds before he did, thanks to alphabetical advantage!”

This concert is included in this week’s Critic’s Picks.
