Canadian pianist Eric Guo is a rising star in the classical music community. The Toronto musician has already begun to make his mark both in Canada and internationally.

On June 5 and June 19, he’ll be performing at The Redwood Theatre to help raise funds for the next stage of his musical journey — studies at the renowned Juilliard School of Music in New York City.

Eric Guo, piano

Born in Toronto, Eric Guo began his piano journey at the age of four, and went on to study at The Glenn Gould School, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance (Honours), and was recently awarded an Artist Diploma. At GGS, he studied as a recipient of the David and Renette Berman Scholarship.

He’s been recognized in particular for his connection to the music of Frédéric Chopin. The young pianist gained international attention early with a First Prize and the Mazurka Prize win at the 2nd International Chopin Competition On Period Instruments in 2023.

Eric recently added to his prize haul by taking home first prize at the 2026 Bader & Overton Canadian Piano Competition.

Guo has already performed on prominent stages in Canada and abroad, including appearances with UK’s Royal Philharmonic, {oh!} Orkiestra, Collegium 1704, Bach Collegium Japan, Ural Youth Symphony, Fort Worth, Minnesota, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Ontario Philharmonic, Burlington Symphony Orchestra, Oakville Chamber Orchestra, and Drummondville Orchestra, among others. He’s performed at Krzysztofory Palace, Pszczyna castle, Rudolfinum, BOZAR, Lukaskirche Dresden, Salle Cortot, Bibliothèque Polonaise, Ateneo de Madrid, Ehrbar Saal, Tokyo Opera City Hall, Hamamatsu Act City, Hyogo Performing Arts Center, Merkin Concert Hall in New York (aired on WQXR), Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, North Carolina Museum of Art, Stetson Chapel, Gusman Concert Hall, Koerner Hall, Roy Thomson Hall, George Weston Hall, Four Seasons Center, Harbourfront Theatre, McMaster University’s LIVELab, and other major venues.
