Ludovico Einaudi holds on to the No. 1 spot again with his album The Summer Portraits, inspired by his sojourn in the Italian countryside last summer. Close behind, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and conductor Gustavo Gimeno continue their upward rise with Stravinsky’s Pulcinella, climbing from the No. 3 spot last week to land at No. 2.

Alice Sara Ott’s John Field Complete Nocturnes makes an impressive leap from No. 6 last week to No. 3 this week.

New to the Classical Chartz Top Ten this week is the National Arts Centre Orchestra and conductor Alexander Shelley with their album, Poema 1. Ad Astra, which steps up from No. 11 to No. 7 this week. It is as the title implies, one of an ongoing series of performances and recordings that will dive into the oeuvre of composer Richard Strauss. Pieces by Canadian composers Kelly-Marie Murphy and Kevin Lau were commissioned by the NAC as companion pieces to Strauss’ epic Don Juan, which forms the core of this recording.
