Two new concerts have been added to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra 2024/25 season, Special Performances of Matilda in Concert, and Jeremy Dutcher. Single tickets for the entire 2024/25 season go on sale today.

Music Director Gustavo Gimeno leads the orchestra as season opens with Pictures at an Exhibition on September 25, 26 and 28, featuring soloists Jan Lisiecki, a season Spotlight Artist, along with Concertmaster Jonathan Crow and Principal Cello Joseph Johnson to perform Beethoven’s Triple Concerto.

Just Announced: New Concerts

Two newly announced Special Performances add a sprinkle of star dust to the orchestra’s season.

Matilda

Special Guest, and star, producer, and director of the movie, Danny DeVito narrates as the TSO performs the original score by David Newman. Newman himself conducts, and the film screens behind the orchestra.

Humour and heartwarming moments blend in the story of Matilda, a young girl who discovers her telekinetic powers as she deals with parents, the school headmistress, and standing up for her friends and herself. Based on the popular children’s book by Roald Dahl, the story will come to life in venerable Roy Thomson Hall.

The concert will take place for one night only on January 25, 2025.

Jeremy Dutcher

Polaris Prize-winner in 2018, and currently shortlisted in 2024 for his latest highly acclaimed release Motewolonuwok, composer and performer Jeremy Dutcher will close out TSO’s 2024/25 season.

Classically trained as a pianist and vocalist, Dutcher’s unique style takes elements of his traditions as a Two-Spirit artist from the Tobique First Nation with jazz, pop, and neoclassical music. Lucas Waldin conducts the TSO as Dutcher performs selections from Motewolonuwok, and his previous JUNO Award-winning album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa.

The concert will mark National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, 2025.
