Lang Lang takes the top spot in the Top Ten Classical Chartz this week, zooming from a debut at 5 last week all the way to No. 1. Upwards motion was shared by the National Arts Centre Orchestra and Truth in our Time (up from 6 to 4), and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Messiaen’s Turangalila-Symphonie (up from 8 to 7). Marc-André Hamelin’s New Piano Works holds the line at No. 9, and Angèle Dubeau and La Pietà climb back into the Top Ten, making the rise from 12 to 10 (also putting two Philip Glass works in
New to the Top Ten is Louise Bessette and Anthony Rozankovic: Origami, landing at No. 8 from 11 last week. Montréal composer Anthony Rozankovic creates what he calls origami music, or score sculptures that range from dissonance to consonant, lyrical to chaotic. Eleven of the 16 tracks started their creation as film music, designed to convey the emotions of the story. Two of the pieces, Mosaïque thérianthropique and La Jungle jongle, which were composed for Louise Bessette.
