Andre Rieu’s Jewels Of Romance maintains its grip on the No. 1 spot in this week’s Top Ten. He’s followed closely, though, by Daniel Hope’s Dance, which rises up from No. 8 to claim the second spot in the list.

There are several newcomers to the Top Ten, including Il Divo and XX, which vaults not only into the Top Ten, but the classical music chart itself at No. 3. It’s hard to believe it, but Il Divo are celebrating 20 years of classical crossover with this release of pop tunes given their signature vocal spin. Songs are sung in English, Spanish and Italian.

Three other albums have climbed up the charts more slowly into the Top Ten. Bryn Terfel’s Sea Songs rose from 11 to No. 4. The Welsh bass-baritone offers a collection of sea-inspired songs, including folk tune, sea shanties, and more.

The Toronto Symphony Orchestra’s recording of Olivier Messiaen’s Turangalîla-Symphonie on the Harmonia Mundi label arrives at No. 8. Read more about the release here.

Known primarily as a musician of extraordinary virtuosity, Marc-André Hamelin has also composed music for much of his career. His New Piano Works is a collection of just that – his own writing for solo piano. Not surprisingly for a pianist known for his technical brilliance, the pieces are complex, often riffing off other works, and sometimes with tongue firmly planted in cheek. Piano Works makes the climb from No. 15 to No. 10.
