There are three newcomers to the Top Ten this week. Anne-Sophie Mutter’s Virtuosi leaps from the 13 spot to number 2. The superstar German violinist set up her Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation in 2011 to support young string players. In 2023, she went on tour with her handpicked ensemble, and the recording is taken from their performance at Musikverein Vienna.
Liona Boyd’s Once Upon A Time made a similarly meteoric rise in to the Top Ten. The album offers fans the end result of a five-year creative journey for the virtuoso classical guitarist. It’s an album of original compositions and reimagined works, and is Boyd’s first release in Dolby Atmos/Immersive Audio. Co-composers include the legendary Maestro Vangelis.
Sofiane Pamart’s Noche makes the jump from 14 up to 10 this week. The French-Moroccan composer’s latest album follows the enormous success of his Planet and Letter, which led to his status as one of the top 10 most streamed classical music artists in the world for 2023. His music is lyrical and poetic, and often inspired by cinematic scores.
