Here are my choices of streaming videos this week, either time-specific offerings with a focus on the Metropolitan Opera (The Met) and the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), or highlights of other companies and individual artists, on a video on demand basis.

Additional picks (Date-specific or Video On Demand):

More interesting streams by other companies as well as individual artists:

1) The Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto is doing Facebook Watch Parties on Wednesdays at 4 pm on the Koerner Hall Facebook page: April 15, 4pm: Andrei Feher conducts the Royal Conservatory Orchestra; April 22, 4pm: Rhiannon Giddens and Francesco Turrisi; April 29, 4pm: Gábor Takács-Nagy conducts the Royal Conservatory Orchestra. | Details

2) Well worth watching is this remarkable project of 79 musicians of the Gran Canaria Philharmonic coming together to perform snippets of Mahler’s Second Symphony. Elina Garanca is the mezzo soloist and her husband Karel Mark Chichon conducts. All recorded from their homes except organist Angel Hortas who was in Jerez Cathedral in Spain. A spiritually uplifting piece, perfect for Easter.

3) Here’s a striking performance of Ravel’s Bolero by musicians of the New York Philharmonic, in a tribute to the healthcare workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

4) A fun production of Cosi fan tutte from Royal Opera House (Covent Garden), with a great cast.

5) Like so many artists now deprived of a live audience, pianist Daniel Vnukowski takes to the internet to make his performances available. He’s accessible on YouTube as well as on his own website.
