In an emotional video posted today on Facebook, violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter has confirmed she has been infected with the COVID-19 virus, and is currently in quarantine.

“…Know that I am with you in spirit, but know that I am also with you in the COVID-19 because I have been tested positive. So I am staying in quarantine at home, and I am expecting to fully recover.”

In the candid video Mutter said at first she felt it was a “total disaster” but as a non-smoker, and just 56 years-old, she is feels fortunate and hopeful.

“It’s such a difficult situation for an artist not to be able to communicate with you, the listener. Better times will come…”

“Stay healthy, and if you are with me not only in spirit, but also in virus, stay strong.”

She ends the video with a quote, “forward and upwards it must go.”

Our thoughts go out to Anne-Sophie Mutter, and we wish her full and speedy recovery.
