The Canadian Opera Company has named Christie Darville, current Executive Director, Philanthropy & Audiences, as the COC’s new Deputy General Director.

The role follows news of the planned departure of COC General Director Alexander Neef, as General Director Designate of Opéra national de Paris, beginning September 2021.

Darville’s new transitional role will extend though through the 2020/2021 season, and includes taking over some of Neef’s current duties, including the management of the COC’s earned revenue.

“Christie’s insights and planning have been critically important to our strategic review process, as well as the company’s larger positioning, institutional relationships, and future outlook,” said Neef in a press release statement. “Formalizing the breadth of Christie’s portfolio in this fashion is a reflection of her contributions, as well as the important role she plays in the continued success and sustainability of the COC.”
