COFFEE BREAK | Happy Birthday Beethoven From John Belushi

By Michael Vincent on December 17, 2016

In honour of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s 246th birthday, we give you a rare gem from the Saturday Night Live sketch archive featuring the late, great John Belushi.

In the video, Belushi’s plays a stoic, despondent, and very deaf Beethoven. It all starts with good taste and propriety. He plays around on the piano as if searching for the perfect opening chord for his next sonata. Failing to get his attention, his visitors leave the room. He stops playing and begins snorting a bit of cocaine. He then puts on some sunglasses and transforms into a fantastic Beethoven/Ray Charles combination that only the mind of Belushi could dream up.
