THE SCOOP | The Search For Canada's Next Piano Hero

The search is on for Canada’s next Amateur piano hero.

CBC Music and ICI Musique are looking for pianists muster up their courage and send in a video of themselves playing for a chance to win Canada’s Piano Hero competition. According to the rules, pieces must be in the public domain and sent in by the January 21st, 2016 submission deadline.

The public will vote on submitted videos and narrow them down to 1o finalists. The jury will vote om the final winner, and includes Angela Cheng, Jan Lisiecki and Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

The top prize is a new piano by Boston professional, a trip for two to Montreal where the winner will film a professional music video, a private piano lesson with David Jalbert, and a VIP treatment at a l’Orchestre Métropolitain concert where they will also perform a pre-show solo performance.
