By now you’ve probably seen the 10 Hours of Walking in New York City as a Woman video that went viral in 2014. It was a big deal, but now the classical music parody website Submediant has asked, what about violists? The video shows a woman walking around Manhattan and repeatedly harassed with viola jokes by passersby: “Violin too hard?”; “Hey, what’s it like never playing in tune?”; “Hey, how to you stop a violist from drowning? You have you foot of their head.” At one point, a guy follows her whistling the Stamitz Viola Concerto for over 22 minutes.
Give a violist a hug. #endviolajokes
