Toronto composer and violinist included in 2014 Polaris Music Prize shortlist

The 2014 Polaris Music Prize shortlist has just been released. Included on the list is classical composer and award-winning indie-pop violinist Owen Pallett, for his new CD In Conflict.

Readers might recall, Pallett premiered his Violin Concerto at the 2013 Toronto Symphony New Creations Festival with Pekka Kuusisto, and was also among the 2014 Oscar nominees for his participation in the score to the film Her.

The winner will be announced during the Polaris Gala at The Carlu in Toronto on September 22. The 11 member Grand Jury will be selected from the larger pool of 190 music journalists, broadcasters and music bloggers from across Canada who make up the Polaris jury.
