It’s not everyday one gets to see three of the greatest operatic voices of their time sitting around a piano chatting casually about the craft of opera singing.

This fascinating discussion includes Dame Joan Sutherland, Marilyn Horne, Luciano Pavarotti and Richard Bonynge each offering insights into vocal technique, Bel canto, and the personalities that drove these great artists to the heights of success.

The video also offers a glimpse into their off-stage chemistry. At one point Luciano Pavarotti suggest that, “A singer is an athlete,” and Marilyn Horne quips “half athlete, half artist”.

I must say Richard Bonynge looks rather nervous here – but who could blame him.
