On Sunday, June 8, celebrated German opera and theatre director Peter Stein will be in Toronto with Canadian Opera Company General Director Alexander Neef to present “Directing for the Operatic Stage: Peter Stein & Alexander Neef” a celebration of the director’s four-decade long career with Berlin’s  Schaubühne —a company he brought to the forefront of German theatre. The event is part of  “Celebrating Peter Stein,” a five-day celebration of Stein.

The discussion takes place at the TIFF Bell Lightbox, and will include an on stage appearance with Peter Stein and Alexander Neef, and also feature various film highlights personally selected by Neef from Pelléas et Mélisande, Moses und Aron, and Die Nase.

The event starts at 1:30 p.m and will include an audience Q&A after the event. Make sure to get your tickets early!

The following day, Stein will be at the University of Toronto to be awarded an honorary doctorate at the Spring 2014 Convocation Ceremonies starting at 2:30 p.m.
