Music in the Afternoon is pleased to present violinist Julian Rachlin, joined by Sarah McElravy, viola; Karen Ouzounian, cello; and Sheng Cai, piano for a concert of Brahms, Bach, and Penderecki.

Julian Rachlin is the Chief Conductor of the Kristiansand Symphony in Norway. He is also the Music Director of the Jerusalem Symphony, and the Artistic Director of the Herbstgold Festival in Austria. Along with conducting, he is a violin virtuoso with a career as a soloist, chamber musician, teacher and artistic director. His recordings have been released on the Deutsche Grammophon, Sony Classical and Warner Classics labels.

Arrive early for a 12:15 pre-concert lecture called “Tuning Your Mind | The Two Bs: Brahms and Bach” with Robin Elliot, professor of musicology at the University of Toronto.
