Beethoven’s “Eroica” broke every rule in the book of composing a symphony, from doubling its length to deepening its substance. Kerem Hasan makes his TSO début with this most invigorating of compositions, which is paired with the shimmering Impressionist textures and poetic meditations of Polish master Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1. Christian Tetzlaff brings to it the multiple skills that led The New York Times to praise him as “a meticulous and refined virtuoso.” (Pictured: Napoleon Bonaparte, the original dedicatee of Beethoven’s “Eroica” Symphony)
British conductor Kerem Hasan will replace Louis Langrée who is indisposed and has needed to withdraw from the TSO’s Beethoven Eroica Symphony performances on April 10–13, 2019. These concerts will mark Mr. Hasan’s Canadian début.
Concert running time is approximately two hours including a 20-minute intermission.
Tickets, here.
[Update: Louis Langrée has cancelled, and will be replaced by conductor Kerem Hasan.]
