Odessa Waltz and Dedication Irina Grafova
World premiere
Irina Olegovna Grafova studies piano and composition at the Stolyarsky Special Music School, the Odessa Conservatory and Moscow State University (Odessa) and is a laureate of international competitions.
She is also a well-known poet, with the volume 50 Shades of Poetry published in November 2021, Fairytale Poems of the Princess for children published in December 2021, and other poems included in five national collections. She has been awarded a Heritage Star and nominated for Ukraine’s national Poet of the Year award.
Sinfonia Toronto performed Ms. Grafova’s Hero City Odessa in May 2022. This evening’s premiere reveals a similarly evocative melodic and harmonic style grounded in Ukrainian heritage.
