An Exquisite Spectacle of Musical Genius & Tormented Soul
The immortal music and agonized life of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky are cast in a bold new light through the eyes of Russian choreographer Boris Eifman.
Returning for their fourth anticipated Toronto engagement, the dramatic intensity and exquisite artistry of Eifman Ballet invites viewers into the brilliant mind and tumultuous struggles of the unparalleled composer, Tchaikovsky.
Hailed as “a swirling, vivid panorama of emotions and settings” (New York Times) this emotionally gripping production, which premiered in 1993 in St. Petersburg and has since toured the globe to enormous acclaim, to share a surreal – at times hallucinatory – vision of the artist’s life. The narrative soars on a score featuring some of the composter’s most beloved symphonies and ballets, including Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, and The Nutcracker.
