An evening to celebrate Thelonious Monk and the centennial of Charles Mingus. Named after the 1959 album, Mingus Dynasty features musicians Mingus recorded or played with. Monk’estra is a six-time Grammy Award nominated band led by John Beasley. BBC Music Magazine enthuses “John Beasley’s bold refashionings of Thelonious Monk once again hit the jackpot. Beasley’s not just breathing new life into Monk’s repertoire – he’s firing up the big band scene.”
