Piano Lunaire | HIGH SUMMER HAYDN 2024: Festival Finale with Adam Sherkin and guests
September 8, 2024 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$25
Piano Lunaire has soft-launched a new summer festival in 2024, both in New York and Toronto: pianist/composer Adam Sherkin presents selections from Haydn’s 52 sonata catalogue, alongside Haydn-inspired contemporary works for keyboard (including his own!)
Included on the third recital of the HIGH SUMMER HAYDN 2024 Festival is the the great C major sonata, Hob. XVI: No. 50 and the D major, No. 51. These pieces assertively display the composer’s quintessential innovation and technical mastery. The first movement includes two passages where “open pedal” is indicated: an effect highly unusual for the late Eighteenth Century.
