Ottawa Chamberfest | Space Time Continuo: Pachelbel’s Fugues

Montreal’s Space Time Continuo invites us to travel down below the treble clef and to venture beyond Pachelbel’s Canon in D! While the instruments of the continuo are usually relegated to a supporting role, Space Time Continuo brings them into the spotlight with a Pachelbel-rich program performed by heavy-hitters of the Montreal early music scene. Since its debut in 2019, Space Time Continuo has released the album CAROLO (Leaf-Music 2022), played live and online events during the pandemic (Festival Lanaudière, Wheel Club Live, Conservatoire de Montréal), and recorded a second disc, “Pachelbel Magnificat Fugues,” released in 2022 (ANALEKTA). Created and directed by the Arion Baroque Orchestra’s principal cellist Amanda Keesmaat, Space Time Continuo will also perform Montreal composer Maxime McKinley’s “Borromean Knots” (2020) for three Baroque cellos. Join us, and learn that Pachelbel wasn’t a “one-hit wonder” after all!
