Ottawa Chamberfest | New Music Now: Throwbacks
July 26, 2023 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
$35
Surprisingly, the phrase “New Music” was first introduced in the early 1930s by Viennese composers Arnold Schonberg and Anton Webern, but we have always been delighted – and sometimes challenged – by new developments in art music. In this concert, you’ll hear various works from this seminal period in the history of “new music,” centred around the rarely-heard and perhaps oddly-scored Suite, Op. 29 by Arnold Schoenberg, written for 3 clarinets, violin, viola, cello, and piano.
