September 21 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

PWYC
L-R: Composer Jean-Philippe Rameau; Emperor Qianlong (Public domain images)

Join North Wind Concerts for a fascinating program to start to the 2024-25 season: Acquiescent: The French Baroque in China.

Curated and performed by harpsichordist Louise Hung, assisted by colleagues Jin Cho, traverso, violist Matt Antal and cellist Margaret Jordan-Gay, the immersive program juxtaposes music by Jean-Philippe Rameau and Michel Blavet with projected visuals, soundscapes, and first-hand accounts of how this music was received at the 18th-century Chinese Imperial Court.

An intriguing and thought-provoking exploration of the ideas of music and ‘otherness’ – and some wonderful music!

Featured Program

Jean-Philippe RAMEAU: Selections from solo harpsichord works, and from the Pièces de Clavecin en Concerts

Michel BLAVET: Sonatas for flute and basso continuo.

Ludwig Van
