Phenomenal Women – Laurel Swinden and Stephanie Mara
Laurel Swinden and Stephanie Mara showcase outstanding works for flute and piano by four composers who happen also to be Phenomenal Women: Florence B. Price, Amanda Harberg, Valerie Coleman and Cecile Chaminade.
Maya Angelou’s poem Human Family is both the explicit inspiration for Valerie Coleman’s work, and the unifying spirit of the program.
