Exquisite Chinese instruments meld with a grand Western orchestra in a perfect harmony of East and West. New York-based Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra blends the two musical traditions in what critics call a breakthrough in classical music. Western strings, percussion, woodwinds, and brass accentuate the melodies of soul-stirring ancient Chinese instruments like the plucked pipa and two-stringed erhu.

Part of the renowned Shen Yun Performing Arts classical Chinese dance company that wows sold-out audiences around the world, Shen Yun Symphony Orchestra enchants concertgoers with its vast repertoire drawing upon five millennia of Chinese culture along with beloved Western masterpieces.

Western Classics
• Wagner: Kaisermarsch
Honoring Germany’s victory in the Franco-Prussian War, this Imperial March features exultant horns and sweeping melodies celebrating the birth of a new nation.
• Sarasate: Carmen Fantasy
Sarasate’s virtuosic arrangement of iconic themes from Bizet’s popular opera, Carmen, is one of the most fascinating, and challenging, masterpieces in the violin repertoire.
• Tchaikovsky: Waltz from Sleeping Beauty
One of Tchaikovsky’s seminal works, Sleeping Beauty Waltz (suite from the ballet) is easily recognizable and utterly pleasing.
