Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale returns to the COC for the first time in 30 years in a Technicolor production by Renaud Doucet and André Barbe. The French-Canadian creative team make their company debut with a lighthearted family feud: the aging Pasquale refuses to let his love-struck nephew Ernesto get married only to unwittingly choose his nephew’s beloved Norina as his own bride-to-be. The comic bel canto opera features COC favourites soprano Simone Osborne and tenor Santiago Ballerini as the young lovers, and Georgian baritone Misha Kiria making his company debut in the title role.
