Canadian Music Centre | Art Song and Storytelling of the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora
March 7, 2025 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$30
Join us at the Canadian Music Centre at 20 St. Joseph Street, for Art Song and Storytelling of the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora—a night of powerful storytelling through art song, film, and historical instruments.
This rare event features Black classical music performed on a spinet harpsichord, special performances by Nadine Anyan, and a second production of Rashaan Rori Allwood’s film Streams of Self-Consciousness, exploring his parents’ immigration journey with new narratives and musical arrangements.
You’ll hear music by Nathaniel Dett, Joseph Bologne, Ignatius Sancho, William Grant Still, Florence Price, Leslie Adams, and Toronto composer Rashaan Rory Allwood — honouring the legacy of Black composers past and present.
