
Toronto Summer Music has announced the details of their Free Concert Series for the 20th Anniversary Festival, which runs from July 10 to August 2. There will be 25 free events during the course of the festival, including Kids Concerts, Noon concerts, Masterclasses, a Sensory-Friendly Concert, Shuffle Concerts, and more.
“We are grateful to TD for their continued and generous support of Toronto Summer Music which makes it possible for us to offer this diverse series of free concerts to residents and visitors to our city,” said Jonathan Crow, Artistic Director, Toronto Summer Music, in a statement.
“When we share experiences together, it can help us feel better connected to one another. KIDS CONCERTS
These free one-hour concerts are specially designed to appeal to children between the ages of five and 12, and make a great way to introduce the younger set to timeless music.
Concerts take place at Walter Hall (U of T Faculty of Music) at 11 a.m.
Schmaltz & Pepper (July 16)
Families and children of all ages are invited for a morning of lively klezmer and Yiddish music.
Shoestring Opera’s The Magic Flute (July 23)
Shoestring Opera reinvents Mozart’s beloved The Magic Flute for kids, with a story that emphasizes the power of music and make-believe, self-discovery and sharing. Young Allegra and Papageno set out on an adventure that involves a four-legged, two-winged, fire-breathing dragon, the scary Queen of the Night.
ACADEMY NOON CONCERTS
These one-hour concerts showcase the performers from the Toronto Summer Music Academy for Emerging Artists. The intensive Academy training program runs alongside the main TSM Festival.
Concerts take place at 12 noon at Heliconian Hall.

SENSORY FRIENDLY CONCERT
This family-friendly concert has been carefully designed to be accessible to neurodiverse and disabled people, and takes place in the Lobby of the Edward Johnson Building (U of T Faculty of Music) at 11 a.m.

These hour-long concerts feature a variety of programming, and both Festival artists and next-generation stars. They take place at Heliconian Hall at 5 p.m.

Georgina Rossi (July 16)
Chamber Music Institute alumna Georgina Rossi returns to TSM with a program for solo viola.
The Taylor Academy (July 17)
The up and coming artists of the Phil and Eli Taylor Performance Academy for Young Artists perform.
SHHH!! Ensemble (July 22)
Zac Pulak and Edana Higham — the SHHH!! Ensemble — perform new sounds on a myriad of percussion instruments and piano.
Philip Chiu (July 23)
Chiu performs a selection of South American masterworks by Alberto Ginastera and Heitor Villa-Lobos, and you can submit your requests to requests@torontosummermusic.com by July 2 at 12 p.m. EDT!
The Taylor Academy (July 24)
The Taylor Academy artists return for a showcase of young performes.

COMMUNITY SHOWCASE
The TSM Community Program allows amateur musicians to study with some of the leading mentors in their fields, and perform. The showcase is a casual day of music making on Saturday, August 2 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
