The National Ballet of Canada will tour to perform at Ballet Sun Valley in Idaho for the first time on June 28 & 29, 2025. The announcement was made by Hope Muir, Joan and Jerry Lozinski Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada.
“I am delighted The National Ballet of Canada will be making its first appearance at Ballet Sun Valley this summer. It is amazing to join the list of illustrious companies that have performed at this celebrated festival. I have curated a programme that highlights both Canadian and international choreographers to be announced shortly. We look forward to sharing the incredible versatility and creativity of our artists with Sun Valley audiences,” said Hope Muir in a statement.
Ballet Sun Valley
Ballet Sun Valley was founded in 2011 to connect the Sun Valley, Idaho region with world class dancers and dance education. Their performance series invites dance companies from around the world to perform on their stage.
Robert Smelick, a longstanding member of the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Ballet, founded the company, launching the first Summer Festival in 2012 after years of talks between Sun Valley Resort and the SFB. Sun Valley has become a non-profit since then.
Performances will take place in the open air Sun Valley Pavilion at the heart of the Resort, with the backdrop of the region’s mountains, evergreens and lush greenery.
“Ballet Sun Valley is thrilled to present The National Ballet of Canada, a company renowned for its rich history, extensive and varied repertoire, and extraordinary artists. We look forward to welcoming this exceptional company to the Sun Valley Pavilion, where the audience is sure to be blown away by their artistry and athleticism,” said Kelli Quinlan, Executive Director, Ballet Sun Valley.
Previous Ballet Sun Valley performances have featured the San Francisco Ballet, The Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Boston Ballet and Het Nationale Ballet, among others.
The program for the National Ballet of Canada will consist of both classical and contemporary works, with details to be announced closer to the dates. If Idaho is in your plans for next summer, tickets go on sale on February 1 [HERE].
