Symphonic Anime brings the music of anime movies and TV shows to life with a full orchestra and choir, and a vocal soloist. The tour hits Montreal on September 6 and Toronto on September 7 before Boston and then on to Asia.

While it’s their first time in North America, Symphonic Anime has been around since 2019, and has performed to sold-out houses in Asia. The music was arranged for orchestra by conductor Thanapol Setabrahmana, and originally performed with the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra.

Vocalist Nan Sathida will be performing with the orchestra, and three of the composers will be in attendance.

Talent Lineup

Thanapol Setabrahmana is the Assistant Music Director of the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra. Setabrahmana earned a Master of Music Degree in Wind Ensemble Conducting from the New England Conservatory of Music, and currently serves the Chair of Conducting Department and the Director of Bands at the College of Music, Mahidol University, where he conducts the Mahidol Wind Orchestra.

He is a prizewinner of The American Prize in Conducting 2013 and 2014, and his CV includes conducting performances in Europe, Asia, and the United States in a wide variety of repertoire, including orchestral, chamber, and choral music. The Japanese composer and arranger is probably best known for the work he’s done for TV, anime and films. Some of his credits include music for Haikyū!!, Triangle, Zettai Reido, Diabolik Lovers, Asa ga Kita, and My Hero Academia.

Japanese composer Yasuharu Takanashi (b. 1963), switched from the rock bands of his teenage years to composing for anime and video games. His compositions are still influenced by rock music, and he’s the leader of the band YAIBA, who play rock on traditional Japanese instruments. He was the recipient of a JASRAC International Award, given in recognition of top royalty earners, in 2013, 2014, 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2022. Credits in the anime world include internationally known titles such as Naruto Shippuden, Fairy Tail, Log Horizon, Shiki, Hell Girl, and Record of Ragnarok.
