Canadian Opera Company/Tosca

Thursday May 11 at 7:30 p.m. (repeats Saturday May 13 & Friday May 19 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday May 21 at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday May 23 at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday May 27 at 4:30 p.m.) Four Seasons Centre. $35+

Sopranos Sinéad Campbell-Wallace and Keri Alkema share the role in this remount of the popular Puccini opera. Acclaimed Italian maestro Giuliano Carella conducts, and Scottish opera artist Paul Curran directs. Read our interview with Paul Curran here. More info here.

Canadian Opera Company/Macbeth

Friday May 12 at 7:30 p.m. (repeats Sunday May 14 at 2 p.m. plus May 17 and 20). Four Seasons Centre. $55+

The COC staging of Verdi’s vigorous early masterpiece features baritone Quinn Kelsey at the head of a strong cast led by the able Speranza Scappucci in the pit. Limited ticket availability. Read our review here. Info here.

Upper Canada Choristers/Cantemos

Friday May 12 at 7:30 p.m. Grace Church-on-the-Hill (300 Lonsdale Road). $25

A mostly Latin American program with piano accompaniment features the premiere of El Pajaro Que Espero (The Bird I Await) by the Venezuelan composer César Alejandro Carrillo. Tafelmusik/Leila Schayegh

Friday May 12 at 8 p.m. (repeats Saturday May 13 at 2 p.m. and Sunday May 14 at 3 p.m.). Jeanne Lamon Hall. $25+

The Swiss violinist returns to lead Tafelmusik through a French program including Jean-Féry Rebel’s Les Élémens, a suite from Rameau’s Les Indes galantes and the Chaconne from Rameau’s Dardanus. Info here.

Hannaford Street Silver Band/Festival Gala

Saturday May 13 at 7:30. MacMillan Theatre. $18+

Cynthia Johnston Turner, dean of music at Wilfrid Laurier University, conducts a program including new works by Marcus Venables and Kristofer Maddigan. There are also performances by various bands from 10 a.m – 5 p.m. Info and tickets here.
