Toronto Symphony Orchestra/Dalia Stasevska/Sergei Babayan

Wednesday Nov. 23 at 8 p.m. at Roy Thomson Hall (repeats Thursday Nov. 24 at 8 p.m., Friday Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday Nov. 26 at 8 p.m.). $35+

The repertoire is more than a little familiar — Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Symphony No. 6 “Pathétique” — but the Ukrainian-born Finnish conductor Dalia Stasevska is an up-and-comer and the Armenian-American pianist Sergei Babayan is an underrated powerhouse. The program is completed by Birds of Paradise II, a compendium of birdsong by the Swedish composer Andrea Torrodi. More information and tickets here.

U of T Opera/A Comedic Trilogy

Thursday Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. (repeats Friday Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday Nov. 27 at 2:30 p.m.). MacMillan Theatre. $40 (seniors $25; students $10)

The opera school mounts a bound-to-amuse triple bill of Hindemith’s Hin und Züruck, Offenbach’s Monsieur Choufleuri and Douglas Moore’s Gallantry. Royal Conservatory Orchestra/Tania Miller

Friday Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. Koerner Hall. $25+

The B.C.-based conductor leads a program of Valentin Silvestrov (The Messenger, a neo-Mozartian piano concerto), Beethoven (Piano Concerto No. 1) and Shostakovich (Symphony No. 5). Conservatory student Chelsea Ahn is soloist. More information and tickets here.

Tafelmusik Choir/Reflections of Mary

Friday Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. (repeats Saturday Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.). Jeanne Lamon Hall. $25+

A program focusing on music dedicated to the Virgin Mary features Charpentier’s substantial Missa Assumpta est Maria as its main event. Poulenc also is promised, along with a premiere by the Canadian composer Tawnie Olson. More information and tickets here.

Mooredale Concerts/Ensemble Caprice

Sunday, Nov. 27 at 3:15 p.m. Walter Hall. $30+

Mooredale presents the inventive Montreal baroque group in a Vivaldi program featuring The Four Nations, a cycle of concertos mostly reconstructed from fragments. France, Spain, England and India are represented. More information and tickets here.

Esprit Orchestra/Violinissimo

Sunday, Nov. 27 at 8 p.m. Koerner Hall. $25+

Three concertmasters (Marie Bérard, Aaron Schwebel, Stephen Sitarski) join forces in Alexina Louie’s Triple Concerto. Also heard are violin concertos by Jose Evangelista, John Rea and Andrew Staniland. Alex Pauk conducts. Arrive at 7:15 p.m. for a pre-concert chat. More information and tickets here.
