Opera Theatre of Saint Louis has made a last minute casting change for the upcoming production of La bohème, which opens the 2016 Festival Season on Saturday, May 21. Toronto-based tenor Andrew Haji will step in for tenor Anthony Kalil, to play Rodolfo.

According to the OTSL press-release, Kalil withdrew from the production for personal reasons.

Haji has made appearances with the Canadian Opera Company include Alfredo in Verdi’s “La traviata” and Rodriguez in Massenet’s “Don Quichotte”. He was also a member of the Canadian Opera Company Ensemble Studio, and featured in productions of the COC Ensemble Studio performances in Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville” and Mozart’s “Così fan tutte”.
