The Montreal Symphony Orchestra have announced one most ambitious United States tours in recent history. The 2015/16 season will include consecutive performances in 10 cities across the U.S. this Spring, including Washington, New York, Boston, Chicago, Ann Arbor, Palm Desert, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Sonoma State University, and Berkeley.
The tour is in honour of the 40th anniversary of the MSO’s first visit to the U.S. in 1976, and will take place between March 14-26 2016,
For the past 20 years, the orchestra has made near annual visits to the US with performances in New York City’s Carnegie Hall. Most recently they received funding for an extensive 16 city tour of Europe, Japan, and China which proved to be a major success.
“We are eagerly looking forward to sharing our unique and historic Quebec tradition with our American friends, old and new,” MSO Music Director Kent Nagano said.
Pianists Daniil Trifonov and Maria João Pires will join the orchestra and perform works by Beethoven, Debussy, Prokofiev, Ravel, and Stravinsky.
