Glenn Hodgins named new executive director of Canadian Music Centre

By John Terauds on January 10, 2014

glennGlenn Hodgins, who has been executive director of the Ottawa Chamber Music Society since 2007, takes on the same position at the Canadian Music Centre in Toronto on March 10.

Today’s announcement by the organisation concludes a search process that has been underway since the start of last fall, after former Canadian Music Centre executive director Elisabeth Bihl announced that she would be leaving at the end of last year.

Hodgins has deep professional roots in Toronto, having worked at the Ontario Arts Council and Tafelmusik before moving to Ottawa.

Hodgins will work out of the national office of the Canadian Music Centre, located at 50 St Joseph St. The nearly 55-year-old organisation’s goal is to raise awareness and promote Canadian composers and their works in a wide variety of ways through the national as well as five regional offices.

The CMC owns a massive archive of new Canadian work from the past six decades, a comprehensive online resource site, and operates its own label, Centrediscs.

The Centre now also has its own performance space.
