This is the final week for music festivals in Niagara-on-the-Lake and Parry Sound, as summer festival season continues to wind down. Stratford Summer Music carries on to the end of the month.
MUSIC NIAGARA
A surprise face at Saturday’s Season Finale concert at St Mark’s Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake is former pianist Naida Cole, who took off for med school in Rhode Island a few years ago, earning her degree last summer. But she hasn’t been able to shake the keyboard bug.
Cole joins Music Niagara founding artistic director, Toronto Symphony violinist Atis Bankas, and the CamerAtis for a programme featuring Mozart’s G minor Piano Quartet K478 and Robert Schumann’s Op. 44 Piano Quintet.
You’ll find all the weekend’s details here.
FESTIVAL OF THE SOUND
Sunday afternoon’s closing concert comes courtesy of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, music director Noel Edison and a fine crew of soloists performing their 2012-13 party piece, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana (with a slightly reduced percussion accompaniment compared to what we heard in Toronto and Elora).

MONDAY IN TORONTO
Euphonia deserves a bit of advance notice for its Monday-night summer concert series at Lula Lounge, which offers up a fine mix of late-18th century fare at 8 p.m. — with a side order of casual atmosphere as well as available food and drink. Admission is pay-what-you-can. You’ll find the details here.
