“We invite former students and friends, the ‘family’ and all who loved him, to join us in this gathering to share our thoughts, memories and music,” writes Remenyi in his invitation. “This occasion is meant to provide a somewhat more intimate opportunity to pay tribute. And, please remember to bring along favourite pictures and recollections.”
Any gathering like this will have music. At this point, Remenyi says cellist Winona Zelenka and violinist Jacques Israelievitch will play part of a duo by Zoltán Kodály, the Annex Quartet is bringing some Ernö von Dohnanyi, and cellist Coenraad Bloemendal will lead David Popper’s Requiem (for three cellos and piano).
Remenyi promises “lots of camaraderie and laughs.”
The event is being held at the Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club, 141 Wilson Ave. The gathering starts at 1 p.m. Instead of simply showing up, please rsvp to admin (at) remenyi.com.
