Easter Monday listening: A J.S. Bach marathon from Royal Albert Hall on BBC 3

Conductor John Eliot Gardiner is the host of a Bach marathon at London’s Royal Albert Hall today. BBC Radio 3 is broadcasting the event live starting at 1 p.m. GMT — 8 a.m. Eastern.

There are choral pieces, solo cello suites and keyboard pieces (including pipe organ) on the programme.

Highlights include Joanna MacGregor playing the Goldberg Variations at 11:30 a.m. Eastern, an organ recital by John Butt at 1:15 p.m. Eastern and a performance of the B minor Mass by the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Soloists, led by Gardiner, at 3 p.m. Eastern.

The music is interspersed with interviews and commentary all day long.
