Opera Atelier has just announced its 2013-14 season. It features remounts of its excellent 2008 production of Mozart’s Abduction from the Seraglio and a re-visit with Jean-Baptiste Lully’s great Persée.
John Terauds, Editor-Emeritus of Ludwig van Toronto, is currently a Divinity student at the University of Toronto and a church music director. He joined the Toronto Star in 1988, was the classical music critic from 2005 to 2012, and continues as a freelance critic for the paper. He is the co-author of Roy Thomson Hall: A Portrait, a book written with Toronto Star Colleague, William Littler.

The Toronto performances of Persée in the spring of 2014 will be followed by a return engagement at the Château de Versailles, which has not seen a production of Lully’s opera since it inaugurated the royal opera house in 1770.
The casting for both operas is a mix of familiar Opera Atelier collaborators as well as some débuts.
