Pianist Janina Fialkowska receives 2012 Governor General's Performing Arts Award

The 2012 Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards have just been announced. Classical music is represented by Montreal-born pianist Janina Fialkowska and Toronto’s Earlaine Collins, a formidable patron-champion of opera, art song and symphony.

Here is Fialkowska having fun with some Mazurkas by Frédéric Chopin at London’s Cadogan Hall in 2010, followed by a video I made of the pianist and a Chopin-period Pleyel piano on which she performed with Tafelmusik:
