March 5 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

The VC2 Cello Duo will shake up the Music in the Afternoon concert series with lively performances of beloved works by Bach and Beethoven, alongside fresh pieces destined to become favourites.
Several of these captivating new works were written especially for the duo by Canadian composers Andrew Staniland, Fjóla Evans, and Dinuk Wijeratne, and the program will feature a world premiere by Matt Brubeck. Amy Hillis, WMCT’s new artistic director, will join them on violin for several of these works, including an arrangement of Beethoven’s String Trio No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 3.
Arrive at 12:15 for our free Tuning Your Mind lecture “Music and Memories with a Side of Cellos” by Emma Schmiedecke. Emma’s work spans solo performance, chamber music, orchestral playing, and contemporary music. She is an Instructor in Cello at the University of Toronto and teaches at the Lane School of Music.
