Daniela Nardi has been appointed as the new Executive Director of the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir. Her appointment will be effective as of March 4, 2024.
“Daniela Nardi is an exceptional leader with a unique blend of artistic vision, strategic acumen and community engagement,” said Jean-Sébastien Vallée, Artistic Director in a statement. “Her proven track record of success and her passion for choral music make her the ideal person to guide the TMChoir in achieving its ambitious goals, both on and off the stage. I’m thrilled to welcome her as my new partner in the TMChoir leadership team.”
Daniela Nardi
Daniela Nardi brings the experience of a three decade career in the arts and culture sector to her new role. With a passion for music, she has experience in programming, producing, marketing, fundraising and strategic planning, making her the right person to guide the choir into the future.
TMC’s mandate goes beyond performance to playing a role in creating and nurturing Toronto’s choral community, including its audiences. Nardi’s collaborative background was key in landing her the position.
Along with her role in music administration and organization, she is a talented artist and award-winning musician in her own right. Daniela began studying music at Toronto’s Royal Conservatory at the age of five, and earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in music from York University. She has produced and recorded albums as a jazz/pop singer-songwriter. With her global jazz project Espresso Manifesto, she toured Canada and Europe.
She served as the Interim Executive Director of the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Choir, and she played a key role in the revitalization of 918 Bathurst Centre for Arts, Culture, Media, and Education. Daniela is Founder and Artistic Director of Salone di Cultura, a series of multidisciplinary cultural exchanges between Canada, Italy and its diasporas.
Along with paid positions, Daniela has volunteered and served on several boards, committees and advisory boards with a view towards contributing to Toronto’s rich cultural life. She is involved in organizations such as the International Society for the Performing Arts (ISPA) and the Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA).
“I am incredibly honoured to join the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir,” said Nardi. “The TMChoir’s rich deep history, its artistic excellence, and commitment to community service deeply resonate with me. I am eager to work alongside its talented artists, dedicated staff and board of directors as well, its passionate supporters to shape an even brighter future for this treasured organisation.”
Congratulations to both Daniela and TMC.
