According to Le Figaro, The Mozarteum Foundation has announced the discovery of a previously unseen manuscript for a solo piano piece from around 1780 to be the work of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Unlike two previous discoveries over the past 10 years, this is a complete work. The manuscript is not written out in Mozart’s hand.
Its premiere at Mozart House in Salzburg has been scheduled for March 23.
The piece, found in the Tyrol, was authenticated by University of Innsbruck professor Hildegard Herrmann-Schneide, who is woking on compiling a comprehensive International Inventory of Musical Sources.
