The venerable Toronto Mendelssohn Choir presents its annual Christmas Festival of Carols blowout at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church on Wednesday evening.

Toronto Star theatre critic Richard Ouzounian provides some words, the Festival Brass will clean out the cobwebs, while the excellent Michael Bloss takes over the organ. There will also be some piano ccompaniment by James Bourne.

The program is heavy with old favourites, as well as singalong carols.

Also on the bill is one of the current Big Hits of the world of choral music, Eric Whitacre’s Lux aurumque, beautifully recorded on a Grammy-nominated album by Mendelssohn Choir professional core, the Elora Festival Singers, last year.

Noel Edison conducts what should be a guaranteed warm and fuzzy night of music.
