Toronto contemporary dance company ProArteDanza will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a performance that looks back, followed by a tour that showcases a beloved Beethoven symphony. Echoes of In Between will take the stage at the Fleck Dance Theatre from November 8 to 10.
“As we celebrate ProArteDanza’s 20th anniversary, Echoes of In Between reflects the moment of standing at a crossroads-honoring the journey we’ve taken while embracing the endless possibilities ahead. Over the past two decades, our company has been shaped by resilience and creativity, and this performance is a tribute to the beauty of transition. We celebrate both the ground we’ve covered and the exciting future we are moving toward together,” says Artistic Director Roberto Campanella in a statement.
Roberto Campanella and Robert Glumbek won the award for Outstanding Original Choreography at the 32nd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards in recognition of the 2010/11 season in dance for their piece In Between. Echoes of In Between re-examines the work, which dives into weighty themes of transition, growth, and authenticity. Co-choreographer Robert Glumbek is the company’s Artistic Associate.

The 9th!
The company embarks on a five-city tour through Ontario between January 30 and February 7, 2025. They’ll be performing The 9th!, a piece that showcases Beethoven’s iconic 9th Symphony.
The tour will take them to to FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre in St Catharines, Kiwanis Theatre in Chatham-Kent, Grand Theatre in Kingston, the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, and the Flato Markham Theatre.
Campanella was inspired to create the work by a visit to Berlin and experiencing the infamous Berlin Wall himself, and the fact that its fall was celebrated by a public performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.
