The Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, one of Canada’s premier arts festivals, has named Mhiran Faraday as Executive Director.
Faraday will take over from outgoing General Manager Peter MacDonald who left to pursue other opportunities.
Career catch-up:
- Started her career as a theatre stage manager
- Served two terms on the Board of Directors of Arts Nova Scotia as Vice-Chair of the Board, Chair of the Program Committee, and as a member of the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council, an advisory board to the Provincial Minister of Culture
- Executive Director of Debut Atlantic (2013–2018)
- Manager of the Banff International String Quartet Competition and Festival at Banff Centre
The appointment marks the second major announcement for Chamberfest this season, with Ottawa-based musician Carissa Klopoushak announced as Artistic Director this past March.

Meanwhile, on stage: The Ottawa Chamber fest will take place between July 22 – August 4. The line-up includes Isabel Bayrakdarian, New Orford String Quartet, Echo Chamber Toronto, Gryphon Trio, collectif9, Arion Baroque Orchestra, soprano Jonelle Sills, Lemon Bucket Orkestra, I Musici de Montréal, pianist Stewart Goodyear, and more.
