Twenty-seven-year-old UK conductor Kerem Hasan has replaced Louis Langrée in upcoming concerts with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Announced today, conductor Louis Langrée has withdrawn from the upcoming three concerts this week with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
Langrée has been replaced by 27-year-old UK conductor Kerem Hasan, who will be making his Canadian debut.
The program remains unchanged with Debussy’s Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune; Szymanowski’s Violin Concerto No. 1 (featuring Christian Tetzlaff), and Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony.
When asked for the reason for the cancellation, the TSO stated they did not have any details about Langrée’s condition, other than two say they hoped he was okay.
Originally born in London, Hasan was recently appointed Chief Conductor of the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck in Austria.
In 2017, he won the Aspen Conductor Prize and the Nestlé and Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award. The previous year, he was a finalist at the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in London, after which he was awarded the position of Associate Conductor at Welsh National Opera.
