All the way from the International Space Station orbiting above the earth, American Commander Randy Bresnik sent a special birthday message today for Glenn Gould (and Canada).
“September 25 marks the birthday of a Canadian hero, Glenn Gould who would have turned 85 this year, Bresnik says while floating in front of a Canadian flag.
In the video, Bresnik refers to the famous Golden Record which features 27 tracks, including a recording of Gould’s playing an aria from Bach’s Goldberg Variations. Gould was selected to help “reflect the wonder, diversity and richness of humanities universal language.”
It ends with Bresnik joking that Glenn Gould was the first Canadian in space.
